How Do You Measure a Year in the Life? (of a play..)
Tonight I attended Women’s Theatre Alliance’s presentation of scenes from their recent New Play Development Workshop. The director from the readings of Reckoning last year - Jennifer Olson - was directing a piece written by the director of The Traveller of Tenby -
Mallory Primm.
I wrote the first draft of Reckoning through the New Play Development Workshop in 2011. That means it’s been over a year since the whole thing first sprang to life. It seems like a long time, but it really isn’t, I suppose. Especially considering all the other writing projects I’ve been occupied with. And, you know, life. It keeps one busy.
This afternoon was also the first meeting of Jon, Richard and me to discuss feedback from the May 21st reading of The Dreamer and the Devil. It went well for an initial meeting, I think. Still more work to be done. It never ends, does it?
